Unravel Me Universe, I Dare Ya

“The unraveling is a time when you are challenged
by the universe to let go of who you think
you are supposed to be and to embrace who you are.”

August of last year.  I’m standing at the sink doing dishes and pressing replay over and over again on a silent but nonetheless very loud conversation I’m having with myself in my own head.  “Why are you here again?  What’s wrong with you?  When are you ever going to change?  You’re such a loser.”

And then my mouth opened and out came the statement “You’re depressed.”

The weight of the words made my hands fall into the soapy water.  I was physically and mentally paralyzed for a moment.  Time stood still, as did I.  “But no, I can’t be, I’m better than that!”, I argued back to myself.  And out loud no less for full effect. Continue reading

I’m A Fashionista. Well, Of Sorts.

Let’s start with some definitions of fashionista why don’t we …

Merriam-Webster:  a designer, promoter, or follower of the latest fashions

Dictionary.com:  a very fashionable person, especially one who works in the fashion industry

Cambridge:  someone who works in or writes about the fashion industry

No, dear readers, I know I’ve been away from the blog for quite a while now, but I’m still the jeans’n’tshirt kinda gal I was before.  I haven’t turned into a fashionista as defined above.  So if you came across this post because you were looking for a good read on high fashion, you won’t find it here.  I know nuttin’ ’bout it.

Magazine Covers Cause Hospital Hysterics

My skin cancer tumour surgery # 2 was yesterday morning.  Arrive at the hospital with my chauffeuring niece, check in, get my wristband for the sold out show, and go sit and wait.  Was feeling a little nervous, resentful at having cancer, and worried about the ‘what ifs’ running through my head.  Yeah, yeah, blah blah blah, whatever.  And then I glance at the table in front of me to see what magazines are available to distract my wandering mind and these are the three my eyes first land on …

She’s Got A Lovely Bunch Of Coconuts

A have a friend.  Well, a few but today I’m going to write about just one of them.  We became friends 4 years ago when we were working at the same place.  I don’t know how it started, but somehow I began calling her ‘Lovely’ as a nickname.  And she is lovely to the uummpphh degree.

Her Instagram stuff is pretty lovely too.  I quite enjoy opening my feed and seeing a new post from her in there.  She sees things in everyday life through her lenses that I don’t see myself.  Until she points them out to me via her B&W photographs and their captions. Continue reading
