Stolen Words: Learning The Game

Stolen Words are my compilations of lyrics used to make a new piece of prose of sorts.  The lyrics are ‘stolen’ from the songs I hear while surfing my favourite channels on SiriusXM.  I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

Stolen Words:  Learning The Game was inspired by the great folks over in the Commons during this past week while we took WordPress’ Commenting Bootcamp 101. Continue reading

Tell Me, Who Are You? Please. I Really Wanna Know.

In response to today’s Daily Prompt – Envy.

I’ve been working on rewriting my About page – AGAIN.  I don’t like it, haven’t been happy with it since the first draft of it went up but I had to have something there.  Even through Blogging 101 AND 201, I couldn’t get it to where I wanted it to be. Continue reading

Stolen Words: Annie’s Song

Stolen Words are my compilations of lyrics used to make a new piece of prose of sorts.  The lyrics are ‘stolen’ from the songs I hear while surfing my favourite channels on SiriusXM.  I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

“Annie’s Song” is written in memory of the wife of a blogging pal of mine who passed away last month.  Her name was Ann Bryce (Oct 1928 – Feb 2016). While I was working on this piece, it brought a tear to my eye when John Denver’s “Annie’s Song” came on one of the channels.  Much to my kids’ chagrins in having to listen to it, I have been a lover of Denver’s music since I was just a wee one.  I’m sure I have over a dozen of his records in my vinyl collection.  Anyway, I knew in that moment it would be the title, even though I don’t have a clue as to whether Ann was ever called Annie.

So to extend my condolences to my friend Herb and to honour his wife of 50 years Ann, I dedicate this post.  One day, you shall waltz again together beyond the sunset, where angels meet to dance.  Until then, blessings and prayers … Marianne

I Am Perfuctly Fecked Up: Part III

Didn’t intend for this to be a trilogy of posts but have some more thoughts to share on it so here goes.  If you haven’t read my Part I and Part II posts on this theme, might want to check those out first to perhaps be able to follow my train of thought.  Or, don’t and give ‘er a go anyway.  I wish you luck.  I can barely stay on the traintracks when I read my own stuff.

I read a book about a month ago that I was so engaged by, I read it in 2 days.  That’s fast for me.  I usually like to read slowly, absorbing each portion of a read bit by bit, contemplating what the words on the pages I just read mean to me.  Often, I’ll have a notebook nearby or my word processor ready to save all of the wisdom.  But this book, I couldn’t put down.

I Am Perfuctly Fecked Up: Part II

In follow-up to my post from yesterday, I Am Perfuctly Fecked Up: Part I, here is the core of the post I had started last summer and let sit in my Drafts folder for a long time.  Revisited it the other night and got more out of it now than I had even tried to express last year.  Guess the timing for it was just right.

Last summer I took the WP Blogging 101 course.  One of the other participants, Romica, had a blog post called “What Is Deep About Everybody Poops“.  Interesting title right?  Yeah, I thought so too.  Around the same time, I also read the article “Roundtable: The Scariest Post I Ever Published“, put out by our very own WordPress Daily Post, which I am an avid follower of.
