When It Hits, Use Your Mouth

Earlier this week my youngest commented there was a funny smell coming from the basement.  I thought it was just the bit of mustiness I had noticed myself, normal for at the end of winter and pre-spring cleaning time, especially without a window down there.  As I approached the stairs however, I did notice the smell had changed, wasn’t ‘normal’ at all anymore.  Down I went. Stolen Words: Life’s Railway To Heaven

Stolen Words are my compilations of lyrics used to make a new piece of prose of sorts.  The lyrics are ‘stolen’ from the songs I hear while listening to SiriusXM.  Usually, I surf my favourite channels to gather the lyrics however for this piece I was only tuned in to one channel – Willie’s Roadhouse – where they have been doing tributes to Merle Haggard.  All of the lyrics for this piece are from songs that are either Haggard originals or songs of others that he loved to perform. Stolen Words: Learning The Game

Stolen Words are my compilations of lyrics used to make a new piece of prose of sorts.  The lyrics are ‘stolen’ from the songs I hear while surfing my favourite channels on SiriusXM.  I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

Just Heard: Who’s Gonna Miss Me? by Loretta Lynn

Once again I have to give a shout out to SiriusXM for sharing wonderful new music with me, songs that I simply wouldn’t hear for some time, if at all, if I simply relied on the presets on my car radio, half of which are reserved for the music(?) inklings of my 15-year old daughter.  My favourite channel on Sirius is the Loft and some of my best listening hours there are when I’m tuned in to their “In Spite Of All The Danger” sessions which showcase new music from a variety of genres.  Ironically, I’m listening to that show as I’m writing this post.  It was on the “Danger” show as they call it, that I first heard one of the songs from Loretta Lynn’s new album, Full Circle.  Found myself on Sirius’s Outlaw Country channel not long after and got to hear some more there.  Two new songs in and I was hooked, I had to go find some more of this gold over on her website and VEVO channel.  My listens there were what inspired me to write my last post, “Stolen Words: Annie’s Song”, a tribute to a lady who passed away last month and I know is missed by many now that she is gone. Stolen Words: Annie’s Song

Stolen Words are my compilations of lyrics used to make a new piece of prose of sorts.  The lyrics are ‘stolen’ from the songs I hear while surfing my favourite channels on SiriusXM.  I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

“Annie’s Song” is written in memory of the wife of a blogging pal of mine who passed away last month.  Her name was Ann Bryce (Oct 1928 – Feb 2016). While I was working on this piece, it brought a tear to my eye when John Denver’s “Annie’s Song” came on one of the channels.  Much to my kids’ chagrins in having to listen to it, I have been a lover of Denver’s music since I was just a wee one.  I’m sure I have over a dozen of his records in my vinyl collection.  Anyway, I knew in that moment it would be the title, even though I don’t have a clue as to whether Ann was ever called Annie.

So to extend my condolences to my friend Herb and to honour his wife of 50 years Ann, I dedicate this post.  One day, you shall waltz again together beyond the sunset, where angels meet to dance.  Until then, blessings and prayers … Marianne
