Update as of about 1:oo pm my time (near Toronto, Canada so EDT) …
I have now seen a couple of replies from staff in the support forums, including for my post referenced below, that they are aware of the issue and the developers are working on a fix. Thanks to all for your voices on this, here there and anywhere you raised them.
Looking forward to catching up on some of your terrific posts on the prompts really soon I hope! Marianne
I know a good lot of my followers/readers are fellow WordPress bloggers, and that many of you also like to read and participate in the WP Daily Post prompt challenges like myself. If your response to a prompt hasn’t shown up like mine didn’t on Tuesday, I’ve added a new post to the WP support forum asking for them to fix it.
If you’re in the same predicament of not being able to see or respond to prompts since Tuesday, please go here and add a comment to my original support post in the forum. Maybe if we band together and generate lots of traffic there, they will catch sight of it and fix the pingpack glitch!
Here’s where my support post is:
Your Daily Post Pingbacks Haven’t Worked Since Tuesday
Thanks in advance for adding your voice there! Marianne

Sorry to hear that mySestina – please go over to my support post then and add a note there. Thanks! Marianne

Same problem, Marianne. I didn’t have anything for yesterday’s prompt, but I was transformed and ready for today! Bummer.

Sorry to hear that LoisaJay. Nice take on today’s DP in there too by the way haha!
Let’s hope the WP admins “transform” the pingback issue, and get us all “connected” again. Wouldn’t want them to suffer any “embarrassing” consequences from it! tee hee

I find it interesting to see who is writing for the fun of it and who just writes when it can be seen.

Yes I’ve noticed my Reader is a little quieter these last couple of days myself. Marianne

It’s summer time, people go outside and enjoy the sun. School is out, the reader will be full and overflowing in autumn. 🙂

Yeah, good points, surely affecting the flow of reads right now. Marianne

Same problem I am facing. Can it be fixed. I have just posted in response to daily post but couldn’t see it in responses.

Staff posts in the support forums do say they’re working on it so I’m sure they’ll figure out what the fix is as soon as they can. Keep posting regardless – it’s your writing that matters the most! Marianne

Sorry I didn’t know about this earlier! This has happened before and since I have a premium plan, I have e-mail access for support and usually get a much quicker response than the forums. If I’d known I would have sent a message, but it sounds like they’re correcting the problem now (?). In the past it was something like, someone didn’t check the right box. A simple fix.

Oh darn eh? Yeah, an email to support might have alerted them to the issue earlier but alas they’re on it now. Don’t see any responses to today’s prompt yet, but hopefully will later.

I’ll drop them a note.

I sent them a note. Squeaky wheels and all that.

Thanks Belinda. I see they sent out a post to say they’re still working on it. Who knew a ‘pingback’ could become such a widespread techie issue eh?

Ah and I guess the squeaky wheel thing wasn’t just my idea.

I did the daily prompt and pinged the post to the prompt and didn’t see it there. I’m glad I’m not the only one having issues and that the WP team is aware of this. I thought it was odd that there were no replies-I posted it kind of late in the day.

They thought it was just a local issue for a few folks then only yesterday realized it was for all of us. Hopefully the fix comes today! I’m missing reading all the great posts in there. 😦

I was wondering why there was virtually 0 to 6 posts on the daily prompt for the past 6 days

Looks like they’ve got it figured out now … responses appearing for today’s and yesterday’s prompts. Woot woot! 🙂

In short, it’s how one blogger writes a post in response to another blogger/site’s post. It appears kinda like a comment does, but instead it’s a link to their own responding post. It’s done by including a hyperlink in the responder’s post for the original post inviting the responses.
Best way to understand it is to see it so head over to the page I’m including the link for below. It’s the daily prompt for today and if you scroll down you’ll see a bunch of ‘boxes’ that are links to the people who have so far responded to today’s prompt. Just above those are the instructions for how to do a pingback if you’d like to participate.
Hope that helps Emma, but if not write me again and I’ll try to explain it some more.

You’re very welcome. I often do the prompts and try to read as many responses as I can each day. For me, it truly is one of the best features of the WordPress community.
