Set your alarms and PVRs … the second installment of NatGeo’s 6-part miniseries “The Story of God” with Morgan Freeman is on tonight, 9 pm central time. And in case you missed it, at 8 pm they’ll be replaying the first episode – Beyond Death. As they say in the entertainment biz, check your local listings.
Earlier this week when writing about the show, I took a dive off the deep-end a little to say Freeman was asking who’s on first. Tonight’s episode – Apocalypse – will examine both the past and the future to determine what various faith traditions predict about the End of Days.
Venturing away a bit from the traditional Abbott & Costello script, this has me pondering …
Where is up last?
And once again, I respond to my own question with another question – does it really matter what the answer is? OR … is what truly matters the beliefs that we as individuals have regarding the end of life as we know it on earth?
I again hold fast to the opinion that it’s the beliefs. Mine, yours, his, hers. Regardless of your religion of choice or your choice to not believe in one/any religion. And by religion, I use that word loosely to refer to any other collective form of spiritual beliefs. While I was raised religiously and do continue to believe most of the teachings I learned through that religion, I have also adopted some lessons of other religions. I consider myself more of a spiritual person rather than a religious person these days. And I like the potpourri kind of set of beliefs I have. It works for me and that’s all that really matters. And I hope that whatever set of beliefs you have, including beliefs in nothing, that they are working for you as well.
The alias for the batter to go up last in my game of life is Heaven. The alias for you could be something different. I’ll admit that I do not know much about the end of the world as prescribed to by other religions/spiritual sets of beliefs so I am very much looking forward to tonight’s episode. I’m going to enjoy learning more about who or what the Where might be in your game of life.
Let’s play some more ball now why don’t we?
Together. Regardless of Where up last is.

I really like your analogy of living by a potpourri of beliefs..that pretty much sums me up as well,,,and I find it works for me. Looking forward to the new episode, but I will wait till tomorrow and watch via the NatGeo App…no commercials that way!!!! ☺️

I must say the I can relate to how you describe yourself as more spiritual than religious. I think I have reached that point too. I loved your post, thank you. 🌺

You’re very welcome Happy Hugger. I find identifying with spiritual vs religious not only fits for me, but also helps me keep an open mind to other beliefs. That way, my potpourri set can continue to grow as well. Hope the same is for you.
Thanks for the visit and the note. Wishing you a kindness-filled kinda day … Marianne
