… and ain’t that grand?
The Kitchener Blues Festival kicks off tomorrow and runs through to Sunday. In its 15th year, the festival is a gathering of extremely talented musicians both local and international. It’s a family-friendly event run by a non-profit group and hundreds of volunteers. Apart from just a few ticketed admission concerts, the rest of the festival is free. Yes, that’s right, I said FREE!
So if you live within driving distance to Kitchener, Ontario I highly encourage you to check out this awesome festival. Some of the featured performers include:
- Burton Cummings
- Randy Bachman
- Tinsley Ellis
- The Legendary Downchild Blues Band
- Popa Chubby
- Edgar Winter Band
- Watermelon Slim
- Mavis Staples
- David Wilcox
- Guy Davis

And if you’re coming, you can come see me! I’ll be helping out a friend who co-owns my favourite coffee joint. All weekend, I’ll be at Kava Bean Commons, located right in the heart of the festival at 24 Gaukel St, at the corner of Charles St.
In addition to the fantabulous coffee, there’s a terrific selection of teas, awesome food for your breakfast, lunch, or dinner break, and soft-serve ice cream to enjoy out on the patio on a sunny summer day. The team is terrific and you’ll be sure to enjoy some great conversation. Plus, free wifi so you can access your blog and post about your visit!
Kava Bean Commons is a strong supporter of the downtown Kitchener they get to call home. Meet my friend Sparky and what he has to say about the great city. Or better yet, come to the festival and meet him in person, and me too!
Hope to see you this weekend. Marianne
